Taking a surf check
October 3, 2007 by warrick

It was freezing, the surf wasn’t very good and there was a bit of seaweed floating around from some wild winds, but these kids at Sorrento were having a ball. I took the photo a week or so ago, and already the moment is somehow heightened with a kind of nostalgic glow; that’s what time does.
And what time away from school can also do is to put things in perspective, slow things down, get some equilibrium back into life and put those problems that seemed insurmountable late in term 3 on to a proper scale. Holidays are almost over, in fact I’m in at work now clearing the decks, but it sure was nice to get down the coast for a few days.
